Switzerland Trip

Switzerland Trip

I had a chance to visit Geneva Switzerland and the surrounding region last week.  I thought there would be more opportunity to source watches, but seems I was wrong.  Although this region is well known for "Swiss Made" watches, it was a challenge to find value pre-owned pieces.  Why you ask?  Part of it is the Swiss Franc vs. USD conversion which puts us at a 30% disadvantage.  Second, there are just less shops than expected that sell reasonably priced pre-owned timepieces.

I was able to pick up a nice Oris Big Crown Pointer Date 80th Anniversary in Green on leather strap.  The store was open to a slight discount and VAT refund made it a good value.  Beautiful watch in Bronze.

The best find was in a smaller village of Morges, where I sourced a brand new Limited Edition Frederique Constant Healey, Rose Tone, on a leather Strap.  0019/2888 made.

I met a very helpful shop owner in Geneva as well.  They specialize in higher end pieces with a focus of $25k and well above.  Grew up in the Miami FL area.  If ever visiting the area, by appointment contact Roy & Socha Davidoff SA.

I made a trip up to Valle de Joux and had a nice conversation with a lifelong resident and shop owner, Laura Richoz of Atelier d'Horlogerie BCR.  She comes from a watchmaker family and was a great conversationalist.  They have some unique pieces and also have old tools they sell in the shop.  Service and Sales right in the heart of Swiss Watchmaking.  This valley is home to AP, BVLGARI, Blancpain and more.

Had a great time and had the chance to experience the area and learn to ride the ever efficient Swiss trains and busses by the end of my stay.
